Custom Fishing Trips

Here at 3rd Alarm Charters, we offer the longest fishing season with the most variety of any Lake Champlain fishing charter in Vermont. From Ice Out of early April to the holidays of November and December, we've got you covered by offering both trolling and casting trips. Our vessels are set up to handle any tastes, as our trips can be split half trolling and half casting. Once we return from our late summer trips on Lake Ontario, we resume our Champlain trips for bass and pike fishing during the spectacular fall colors. No matter what species you choose, you can also trust Captain Matt to do what seems best for the time of year.

Trolling Trips- Trout & Salmon

The trolling trips from 3rd Alarm Charters are for anglers focused on catching Lake trout and Landlock salmon. However, you may encounter Steelhead and Brown trout as well. Our trolling charters are designed for larger groups.  For less experienced fishers, we offer a very active fishing method where Captain Matt's presentation could catch any of these species in one trip.

Vermont is top in the nation for a wedding destination state! Choose 3rd Alarm Charters to book your bachelor or bachelorette fishing charter when you visit Vermont for your destination wedding.   Come and enjoy Lake Champlain's beauty while you are here!

Trophy Lake Trout Jigging

July and August are phenomenal months for jigging for trophy lake trout.  This is when we catch our biggest lakers of the season along with our highest catch rates as well. These trips take place in the Broad Lake of Champlain near Burlington and Shelburn, VT.

Champlain Casting Trips

For our Lake Champlain casting trips, the primary focus is on bass and pike; however walleye, pickerel, bowfin, and gar can all be caught on any given day.  As with all of our trips, Captain Matt provides all of the tackle and spin casting and fly casting are both opportunities depending on experience level.  These trips can take place in a multitude of areas such as Ticonderoga, Crown Point, Ferrisburgh, Malletts Bay and the Grand Isle Region.
Every species of fish has certain times of the year that are prime for catching. Bass and pike can be caught from ice out throughout the summer months, and even into late fall. However, the best time for them is during April/May and September/October. Trolling for salmon and trout is generally best from late May to late July, though we also offer early trolling trips in April. These trips give you a chance to troll shallow waters just after ice out.
